THE GREATEST SINGLE NEED OF OUR NATION


Text: Pro 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.


I First, let’s look at some of the negatives
A. Increasing crime - even with ‘early release’, the prison population continues to grow. It will, until man learns that every transgression is to receive a just recompense of reward!
Heb 2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;


B. As so-called sex education increases in the schools - so does teenage pregnancy and illegitimate births. And man wants to stop the problem with bigger doses of the ‘germs’ that caused it; ie more ‘education’, condoms, abortion.


C. Since the decision to allow abortion on demand, millions of innocent infants have died horrible deaths
Pro 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,


D. Erosion of religious liberty.
1. In our schools, the bible has no place , while pagan philosophers are honored.
2. Creation Science outlawed, while evolution ‘faith’ still taught, though completely discredited!


So, why do I continue to wave the flag? Because, in spite of all its ills, I can still stand in a pulpit in an open church house and denounce these ills and proclaim the proper answer to them!


II The Positive -
II Chron 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
A. Righteousness and the crucified Christ cannot be separated!
I Cor 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
1. The best answer to these national problems are national leaders who have been to the cross!
2. The best way to have this kind of leader is to have this kind of people
Hos 4:9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.
3. The best way to have this kind of people is to preach Christ.
Christ can do what social programs can never do. A Christ-centered people will not fill our jails, conceive illegitimate babies, and certainly not murder them.


B. Our need is for Christ-centered homes which will produce:
Christ-centered voters in polling places which will produce
Christ-centered officials in office which will lead to;
Christ-centered teachers who teach Basic education curricula in our schools instead of anti-God, ‘politically correct' propaganda that produces humanism.


C. To have any of these, we must start with Christ-centered church members in a Christ-centered church, leading the lost to Christ!
